Millions of Americans suffer from sleep disorders that affect the quality of our sleep. Sleep disorders tend to interfere with our physical and mental health and should be treated. Sleep studies, or polysomnograms, regularly take place at the Maine Sleep Center at Chest Medicine Associates, a state-of-the-art facility for the diagnosis and management of sleep disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy, and parasomnias (such as sleepwalking).
The Maine Sleep Center at Chest Medicine Associates is conveniently located at 100 Foden Road in South Portland. Our six-bed facility has a quiet, comfortable, and home-like bedroom environment with a flat panel television, nightstand, dresser and recliner. The facility provides spacious bathrooms and shower facilities. Our staff includes polysomnographic technologists who will monitor your sleep study.
In addition to our sleep testing facility, the Maine Sleep Center provides an individualized, comprehensive approach to the care of patients with complex sleep disorders—from diagnosis to long-term care–under the direction of physicians who are board-certified in sleep medicine. Chest Medicine Associates treats a number of sleep disorders for the optimal health of its patients, including:
- Sleep Apnea – When breathing stops for 10 seconds or longer during sleep. This may occur many times during the night.
- Insomnia – Inability to get adequate sleep or have trouble falling asleep night after night.
- Narcolepsy – Disturbed sleep patterns that can cause uncontrollable sleeping at random times throughout the day.
